What is carbon footprinting and accounting?

Understanding the three scopes

Scope 1

Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, such as combustion in boilers, furnaces, and company vehicles.

Scope 2

All other indirect emissions across the value chain, including supply chain, logistics, business travel, and product use.

Common carbon accounting frameworks

CFAR aligns with the most widely used international frameworks for GHG reporting. The four most commonly used by organisations are the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, the EPA's GHG Inventory Guidance, ISO Standard 14064, and the Climate Registry's General Reporting Protocol (GRP).
