After supporting 588 businesses across the West Midlands, Pro Enviro has published a new impacts report showing £13.7M in annual savings and 27,765 tCO₂e reduced.
The standout finding is that energy-intensive manufacturers — just 18% of participants — delivered 57% of all carbon savings and 52% of financial savings. The carbon impact per company is 6.7x higher than in the SME cohort.
For SMEs, the story is different but equally clear: 56.7% of their needs are Building Services — lighting, insulation, boilers and HVAC. Simple, proven and cost-effective.
A clear message for governments, combined authorities and local authorities is:
If you want maximum impact per £ spent, cluster-based investment in energy-intensive estates delivers the strongest returns.
The evidence is unambiguous: decarbonisation is win/win/win — lower energy use, lower costs, lower emissions.
