Midlands Net Zero Hub

Midlands Net Zero Hub supports businesses and industry with regional decarbonisation and progress towards the 2041 net zero target.

The Midlands Net Zero Hub (MNZH) is a government-backed initiative supporting businesses, local authorities, and industry across the Midlands to accelerate decarbonisation. Through technical expertise, programme management, and targeted funding, MNZH plays a central role in delivering the region's industrial decarbonisation strategy and its 2041 regional net zero target.

Industrial decarbonisation at regional scale requires more than individual business action. It demands coordinated programme delivery, cross-sector collaboration, and sustained technical and financial support. MNZH has provided exactly that, enabling Pro Enviro to develop and deliver cluster decarbonisation projects across the Midlands that would not have been possible without structured regional partnership.

What we delivered together

With MNZH's technical, management, and financial support, Pro Enviro delivered three significant industrial decarbonisation initiatives across the region.

Worcester

Worcester Industrial Cluster Decarbonisation (WICD)

Black Country

Black Country Industrial Cluster (BCIC)

Dudley

Dreadnought Industrial Development

Working across three of the largest industrial estates in Worcester, Pro Enviro engaged over 60 companies to develop policy direction and technical support for collaborative decarbonisation projects. MNZH provided sustained technical, management, and financial support throughout the six-month study.

MNZH's contribution to developing the Black Country Industrial Cluster helped position BCIC as one of ten targeted business growth sectors selected by the West Midlands Combined Authority, a significant recognition of the cluster's strategic importance to the regional economy.

MNZH provided funding support to Dudley Council to conduct a private wire feasibility study at the Dreadnought Industrial Development, exploring infrastructure-level energy solutions for decarbonising the site.

The results

The partnership with MNZH has enabled Pro Enviro to deliver industrial decarbonisation work at a scale and scope that would not have been possible independently.

WICD

The six-month study provided a foundation for collaborative decarbonisation projects among Worcestershire manufacturers, with over 60 companies engaged across three industrial estates.

BCIC

The cluster's selection as a WMCA growth sector opens new pathways for investment and decarbonisation funding across the Black Country, strengthening the case for coordinated industrial strategy at regional scale.

DREADNOUGHT

The private wire feasibility study contributes to the broader evidence base for shared energy infrastructure across the Midlands, informing future investment decisions at the Dreadnought site and beyond.

These projects form part of a wider, ongoing commitment to meeting the Midlands' 2041 regional decarbonisation target and the national net zero goal by 2050.
